Voting begins in 29 municipalities
Voting for the fifth phase of the country’s 29 municipal elections will take place on Sunday (February 28) from 8 am to 4 pm. In the meantime, election equipment has been delivered to the center.
At this stage, EVM voting will be held in all municipalities. Law enforcers are deployed to control the electoral environment.
Although the schedule of 31 municipalities was announced in the fifth phase, the voting of Jessore municipality and Dewanganj municipality of Jamalpur was postponed by the order of the High Court.
There are 100 candidates for the post of mayor, 36 for the post of reserved women councilor and 1,317 for the post of general councilor. Besides, by-elections will be held in four upazilas on this day.
